Important update for Jaycar workers

As your union, the SDA has been committed to stamping out all forms of unpaid work and recovering what you’re legally entitled to at Jaycar.

Following a legal action by the SDA, Jaycar has announced it will soon be conducting a nation-wide audit into unpaid work.

This audit will be investigating underpayments at Jaycar regarding working without pay before or after your rostered shift.

The SDA estimates that this audit could result in significant backpay for workers.

Being paid for all time worked at the correct rate and for all allowances isn’t optional, it’s the law.

It doesn’t matter if it’s working an extra 10 minutes either side of your shift or working at a different classification for an hour, it all adds up.

You must be paid for this work and you must be paid correctly.

Along with this, Jaycar has flagged it will also be reviewing three other areas of compliance with the Retail Award. We will keep you updated with more information about this as soon as possible.
