P!nk competition winners announced!

October 12, 2018 News

In the May edition of the SDA News, the SDA ran a competition in which two members would receive a double pass to see P!NK live in concert.

Members were asked to tell us in 100 words or less ‘what is most important to you at work’.

The lucky winners were Karen Proctor from Coles Park Ridge and Bronwyn Klingsch from Kmart Maroochydore. They were selected from close to 1000 entries and both were thrilled with their good fortune.

Karen’s winning entry was:
At work, it’s important to me that …..like P!NK, I’m motivated by my “family portrait”. Family “just give me a reason” to work hard and “who knew” 30 years ago starting at Coles it would be such a “beautiful trauma”. I’m not a “bad influence” in our “funhouse” (store) but we “try to get the party started” for a “feel good time.” Some act like “stupid girls” but we are a working family. “There you go” lets “raise your glass” to working hard and staying out of “trouble”. “Today’s the day” just like P!NK for “setting the world on fire” at Coles. (Each “ ” is a P!NK song).

Bronwyn’s winning entry was:
At work, it’s important to me that …..everyone is valued. When I say valued, I am not talking that about dollars and cents but intrinsic value. When every person at work has intrinsic value, they automatically become indispensable and must be kept safe, well paid and have working conditions that reflect their importance. Work has meaning, purpose and challenge. We have ownership and it gives us confidence and a sense of identity and pride. The love of our job is our motivation and work is happiness. Being valued gives us confidence in the future.
