1 July pay rise for Woolworths workers now agreed

The SDA has been campaigning for Woolworths workers to receive an immediate pay rise.

A 1 July pay rise has now been agreed for Woolworths Supermarkets and Big W workers. The Fair Work Commission’s 1.75% pay rise will be back paid to 1 July 2020.

The SDA and Woolworths had disagreed on the interpretation of the wording in the Agreements about when pay rises should apply.

You are an essential worker – the pandemic has proven this.

Woolworths has now done the right thing by its team in bringing forward these pay increases to 1 July. This now means the SDA can withdraw its Federal Court proceedings.

The SDA now calls on other large retailers to follow Woolworths’ lead on this issue and give their essential retail workers a pay rise immediately.

We were only able to achieve this outcome thanks to the support of thousands of SDA members who stood together and supported the campaign for a pay rise. Join today so we can continue to achieve great outcomes for all Woolworths workers.
